What types of jobs do engineers do?
Biomedical Engineering Tech
Most biomedical engineers usually work in “manufacturing, universities, hospitals,
research facilities of companies and educational and medical institutions and government
regulatory agencies.”. This is perfect for me as I am interested in working in
manufacturing or research facilities and this website shows that biomedical engineers are
often placed in these positions. I believe that I would do well in a laboratory or research
setting because then I could work on projects that interest me. Also during my research,
I discovered that the projected growth rate of biomedical engineers is 23 percent, which
higher than the average growth rate . This is very important to me because it gives me
best chance to find employment upon completing my degree.
The further I got in my research the more I discovered that biomedical engineering is the
perfect field for me. I discovered that typically bioengineers usually have a bachelor’s
degree in bioengineering, however, a graduate level degree is often required to hold any
leadership positions, such as leading a research team . This aligns with my plan of
becoming bioengineer as I already planned on attending graduate school and a graduate level
degree would only advancement me in the workplace.
Biomedical Technician
A biomedical technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance for all the medidal equiptmenet in the workplace. The technician has to
make sure that everything within the enviroment works properly and efficiently. If some equiptmenet is not working how it should it is the
biomedical Technician who is supposed to fix it. In the United States Biomedical Technician make about 21.71 dollars per hour which is about 85 thousand dollars per year. Most technicians have at least
a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or bioengineering. Technicians often work withing a hospital or a medical setting. An example of what a biotechician would do
woud be to repair equiptiment such as CT scanners or to design electric wheelchairs for people who need them.
