Makes Early Alzheimer’s Detection Possible
What if we could detect Alzheimer’s disease in patients before they show any symptoms? Psychiatry researcher Ann Cohen is doing just that using positron emission tomography — or PET imaging — to track the telltale markers of disease in the brain. Her imaging work not only helps to determine risk and resilience to Alzheimer’s, but it’s also being used to study Down syndrome in older adults.
For her contributions, Cohen recently received a top award at the Human Amyloid Imaging Conference. And she’s not done. Her latest investigation focuses on patients who have been under-studied in Alzheimer’s research, lending more vital insights to the field.
