Don’t Get Off Our Lawns!
When the weather is good, there are few more beautiful cities in the world than Pittsburgh, and some of Pitt’s best features are its public spaces.
Students are encouraged to use outdoor spaces—including the lawns of Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning and Petersen Events Center, Schenley Plaza and the lawn outside Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum—as the summer turns to fall and while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Here are some tips and reminders for taking advantage of the outdoor spaces around campus in ways that are respectful and safe to everyone enjoying these spaces.
- Groups should remain small (4-6 people); socializing with pods and roommates is best.
- Face coverings must be worn at all times, especially when physical distancing of at least six feet can’t be maintained. Even during exercise or safe group no-contact sports like yoga, group exercise or volleyball, coverings should be worn as much as possible.
- Grab a blanket and a Frisbee. Enjoy a game of catch, or use Pitt’s expanded WiFi to stream your favorite show or connect with friends and family virtually—or even join your class remotely (just don’t forget your headphones)!
- And don’t forget to clean up your belongings and throw away any trash and recycling when you leave.
