Improve your mental health
The University Counseling Center has many resources for students, including virtual workshops, drop-in services, group and individual counseling and more.
Employees can look to Life Solutions and MyHealth@Work for mental and emotional wellness services.
Exercise more
Though indoor recreation facilities on campus are closed during the University’s shelter-in-place period, there are many outdoor trails to enjoy around the city, and on Sunday, Jan. 9, the outdoor field at the Sports Dome will be open from 1-9 p.m.
Employees can access free physical health resources, as well as wellness incentives, in addition to benefits offered through UPMC Health Plan.
And don’t forget: Students, faculty and staff on the Pittsburgh campus have access to free 30-minute bike rides. Bundle up and hop on!
Make new friends
There’s no shortage of clubs and events on Pitt campuses. If you’re looking to join a student group, there are hundreds to choose from, whether you’re looking to learn language, play a new sport or meet others in your major.
Faculty and staff who want to meet colleagues outside their units might want to check out the groups and committees on campus, such as Pitt Communities, which are identity- and interest-based groups, or the Inclusion Network, which focuses on catalyzing diversity and equity initiatives.
If those don’t suit your fancy, there’s always something to do at Pitt: Check out the University’s calendar for lectures, social gatherings, celebrations and more throughout the year.
Eat healthier
Students and student groups can request an appointment with a registered dietician in the Office of Health Education and Promotion.
You can also explore on-campus dining options or meet with a campus dietician through Pitt Eats.
Employees and their dependents can access health coaching appointments to learn how to manage weight, eat healthier and improve overall well-being.
Save money
Learn the basics of budgets, credit and more through Pitt’s Financial Wellness Program. Plus, explore financial aid options at Pitt to make sure you’re taking advantage of every available opportunity.
For employees, Pitt offers monthly live webinars on topics including retirement savings, investing, IRAs and more. You can also learn about debt management and overall financial health through programs offered via the Office of Human Resources.
Quit smoking
If you’re a student who’s ready to kick your smoking or vaping habit, consider the QUIT Program at Pitt. The free cessation service is led by professionals who will help you explore your use of nicotine and take steps toward a healthier you in 2022.
The Comprehensive Medication Management program for employees offers targeted health services, including smoking cession and diabetes prevention. Those with a UPMC Health Plan can also take advantage of their Tobacco Treatment Service.
