Fall in love with data during these events
All members of the Pitt community are invited to celebrate Love Data Week, an international event designed to raise awareness about research data management, sharing and preservation.
From Feb. 14-18, attend a collection of data-oriented research talks, explorations of art and data, and hands-on workshops, brought to you by your friendly neighborhood data librarians.
- Feb. 14, 4 p.m.: “Digital Textual Analysis of Early Modern Witchcraft and Murder Pamphlets, or, How to Love Your Small Data,” presented by Briana Wipf, literature PhD student in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.
- Feb 16, 12 p.m.: “‘The Incentives Made Me Do It!’: Really?” presented by Edouard Machery, director of Pitt’s Center for Philosophy of Science.
- Feb. 16, 4 p.m.: “I Got My Advisor’s Paper Retracted. Open Data Could Have Prevented That Paper,” presented by Sergey Frolov, associate professor of physics and astronomy.
- Feb. 18, 10 a.m.: “CCVG Data — A Journey from Book to Dataset and Interactive Platform,” presented by members of the Contemporary Chinese Village Gazetteer (CCVG) Data project.
- Feb. 18, 12 p.m.: “Input/Output — Creative Approaches to Source Material and Sonic Result in Electronic Music,” presented by Aaron Myers-Brooks, professor in the Department of Music.
