Laura Winters was appointed to serve as Pitt’s assistant provost for strategy by Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Joe McCarthy, effective Nov. 1. She will also join the Provost’s Cabinet as a member.
As assistant provost for strategy, Winters will build on her past responsibilities as assistant to the provost with a focus on advising around policy, procedural and operational issues related to academic affairs and strategic initiatives for the office. She will also serve as a liaison with both strategically and operationally focused colleagues from relevant units within the Chancellor’s Senior Leadership Team.
In addition, Winters will serve as the primary point of contact with respect to stewardship of milestones within the Plan for Pitt across all responsibility areas within the Office of the Provost. She will represent the office on University-wide and administration-focused committees while also engaging academic units to ensure alignment in support of capital planning and physical resources. She will continue to supervise academically oriented executive searches in the Office of the Provost.
Winters holds a Master of Science in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in anthropology from The Ohio State University.
