Jonathan Rubin, a professor the University of Pittsburgh Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, was elected as chair of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Activity Group on Dynamical Systems.
Rubin will lead the activity group, which provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information between mathematicians and applied scientists whose work involves dynamical systems, through the end of 2025. The group consists of more than 1,000 SIAM members, who published 105 related journal articles in 2023.
A member of Pitt’s Department of Mathematics since 2000, Rubin works on theoretical and applied problems coming from neuroscience and mathematical biology. He is also a Center for Neuroscience graduate training faculty member, an affiliate of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and a visiting professor in computational biology. He was named a SIAM fellow in 2021.
