Three University of Pittsburgh faculty members have been awarded grants from the Benter Foundation to launch a new public mathematics lecture series in Pittsburgh.

Armin Schikorra, Carl Wang-Erickson and Ivan Yotov submitted the proposal on behalf of Pitt’s Department of Mathematics. The series will target STEM faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students while ensuring accessibility for the science-interested public across Pittsburgh. Additionally, the series is intended to serve as outreach for advanced high school students.

“The aim is to generate excitement for mathematics and other STEM disciplines in the younger generation” said Professor Yotov. “We are grateful to the Benter Foundation for making this possible and we are looking forward to organizing the inaugural lecture, which is planned for spring 2025.”
