The University’s fourth annual Mentoring and Advising Summit will take place virtually on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All who advise, mentor or coach students, including members of faculty, staff and administration, as well as graduate students or researchers, are encouraged to participate. The summit is hosted annually by the Office of the Provost, and this year’s event is open to attendees from outside institutions also.
The event will explore how to continue to build a strong culture of inclusion in mentoring and advising work. Featured topics will include mentoring and advising in the midst of COVID-19, creating University-wide advisor support systems, and leveraging technology to improve advising. Dedicated tracks and tags in the agenda for the day will allow participants to customize their summit experience in order to get the most out of the event.
Participants will have opportunities to network with colleagues at Pitt and beyond to explore best practices, get up-to-date information on trends and share innovative solutions and strategies for success.
Featured speakers and sessions:
- Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Ann E. Cudd will host a fireside chat with Darris Means, associate professor in the University of Pittsburgh School of Education
- Partners from the Advising Success Network will discuss national trends at a plenary panel
- Virtual lunch with Pitt Mentoring and Advising Community Circles
