The Teaching Survey period is underway and as the University progresses through the shelter-in-place period, faculty members are instrumental in encouraging students to complete the surveys.
Research has shown that the most effective way to receive quality feedback is to communicate the importance of the survey process to students.
Here are five ways for faculty members to do that today:
- Send personal emails encouraging students to participate.
- Add the Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching (OMET) survey block to your course(s) in Canvas.
- Show students where they can find their survey links.
- Talk to students about how to provide meaningful feedback.
-
Give examples of how you've used student feedback in the past in your course(s).
With new tools and resources supporting Flex @ Pitt teaching and learning, student feedback is critical. The University Center for Teaching and Learning/OMET is available to assist: %20omet [at] pitt.edu (contact OMET) for more information. The deadline to submit surveys is Nov. 29.
