Anthony Delitto will lead Pitt’s new Center for Excellence in Digital Education

Anthony Delitto

The University of Pittsburgh announced today the creation of the Center for Excellence in Digital Education (Pitt EDGE), a hub entirely devoted to the development, advancement and promotion of Pitt's educational efforts in the digital space.

The dedicated center will lend powerful support to the planning and implementation of the University’s online and continuing education programming across its campuses. Pitt EDGE will provide a mix of centralized services while also engaging with teams within schools already working to advance Pitt’s digital presence and reach new students nationally and internationally.

Leading Pitt EDGE will be Anthony Delitto, dean and professor of physical therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He will assume an additional role, associate provost for digital education, effective Oct. 1.

“Tony and his team in SHRS have done truly pioneering and transformative work in online education for his school — specifically in its top-ranked Doctor of Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies hybrid programs, in addition to five other online programs,” Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Joe McCarthy said in the announcement. “He is uniquely positioned to guide us as we envision Pitt EDGE as we look to launch at least five new online/hybrid programs over the next five years.”

Pitt EDGE aligns with the University’s commitment to cultivating student success, a key component of the Plan for Pitt 2028. In particular, the program is focused on maximizing access to a Pitt education while continuing to ensure programmatic excellence. It’s one new way Pitt is demonstrating its commitment to providing high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs that respond to the needs of our region, nation and world.
