Pitt’s School of Computing and Information (SCI) has announced the speakers for its Dean’s Spotlight Series 2024-25. The annual series invites expert speakers, showcasing their research in computing and information topics.
All talks will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Bellefield Professional Building.
“The Dean’s Spotlight Series showcases the hard work the community has done together,” said Dean Bruce Childers. “Whether alumni, students, faculty, staff, partners or friends. They are the fuel behind our legacy as a school, our values and our passion.”
Dates for this academic year include:
- Oct. 29: “Toward High-Fidelity, Scalable, and Accessible Quantum Computing Systems,” presented by Xulong Tang, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science
- Dec. 5: “The Science of Science: Exciting Progress and Future Directions,” presented by Dashun Wang, chair of technology and professor of management and organizations at the at Northwestern University.
- Jan. 27: Maurice Wheeler, a cultural heritage scholar, educator and management Consultant
- Feb. 11: Cristina Contai, professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
All Pitt faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and friends from the community are welcome to attend each event. All talks are free, but registration is encouraged.
