Mumbe Kithakye will join the University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Student Affairs as the inaugural executive director of assessment and data analytics, effective Jan. 27.

As executive director, Kithakye will support divisional staff overseeing the collection, analysis and dissemination of data related to student learning outcomes, student engagement, retention and success. Kithakye will collaborate with University stakeholders to identify key performance indicators and metrics that assess the effectiveness of student services, programs and initiatives.

She will also provide expert consultation and support to departments in designing surveys, focus groups and other assessment tools. By collaborating with campus partners — including Institutional Research, IT and academic areas — she will ensure the integration of Student Affairs data with broader institutional data systems.

Kithakye earned her Bachelor of Science at Messiah College (now Messiah University) in Grantham, Pennsylvania, and her Master of Public Health in international health and development at Tulane University. She holds a doctorate in human development and family science from Oklahoma State University, and her research interests include living-learning communities, social emotional learning and socialization of emotional regulation.

While at Oklahoma State, she has served in a variety of roles, including most recently as assistant director of residential learning and adjunct faculty in the Departments of Human Development and Family.
