PhD student Cody Hmelar won a CCCC Scholars for the Dream Travel Award

Cody Hmelar, a doctoral student in the Department of English within Pitt’s Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, has won a 2025 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Scholars for the Dream Travel Award.

Hmelar is one of 19 recipients of this award. CCCC, a constituent of the National Council of Teachers of English, sponsors the Scholars for the Dream Awards to encourage scholarship by historically underrepresented groups.

CCCC supports scholars’ participation in the annual convention and sponsors a reception for all award winners. The selection committee considers originality of research, significance of pedagogical or theoretical contributions to the field and the potential for larger, subsequent projects.

Hmelar will be announced as a recipient of the CCCC Scholars for the Dream Travel Award on during the annual convention in Baltimore on April 11.
