Marc Coutanche, associate professor of psychology in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and research scientist in the Learning Research and Development Center, has been elected as board secretary to the Federation of Associations in Behavior and Brain Sciences (FABBS).

FABBS is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing scientists in Washington, D.C., and in the federal policymaking process. The group is a coalition of scientific societies, academic departments and organizations that advances behavioral and brain sciences for the benefit of humanity. As part of the Board of Directors, the research scientist in the Learning Research and Development Center will help oversee FABBS’ activities and interact regularly with the Washington, D.C., office to create an agenda for advancing the nonprofit’s disciplines.

Coutanche’s lab, the Cognitive Neuroimaging and Memory Lab, works at the intersection of neuroscience and psychology and uses cognitive experiments, neuroimaging and newly developed computational tools to understand cognition, memory and perception. He is also an elected member of the Memory Disorders Research Society and an elected fellow of the Psychonomic Society.
