Here is another practice exam. I do not have solutions. Sorry.

Practice Exam 2

Solutions to the practice Exam 2

Please try to solve the exam using the blank copy before looking at the solutions.
The exam might seem easy when you see solutions, but not so easy when you try to do it on your own. You will also see what you still need to improve.

There is not problem on the Lagrange multiplers in this exam, but the Lagrange multipliers
will be covered on Exam 1.

Grades will be determined as follows: The course will be curved to have a right distribution of grades.

Calculators

You are not allowed to use calculators on quizzes and exams, although problems in LON CAPA often require calculator. On the exams and quizzes you do not have to simplify the final answer or find the decimal approximation. I want to see that you know how to solve the problems and simplification of the answer is irrelevant here.

Homework

All graded homework will be done online, using the LON CAPA system. If you have questions regarding LON CAPA, please talk to your TA.

I know that LON-CAPA can be frustrationg but, please don't get to the point of doing THIS.

Quizzes

Weakly quizzes will be during recitations on Thursday. No makup quizzes, but the lowest two scores from the quizzes will be dropped (that allows you to miss two quizzes without penalty).

Quiz #1: Thursday, September 10: vectors, dot product, cross product, vector projection, equations of lines and planes. Four problems 20 minutes.

Quiz #2: Thursday, September 17: Lines, planes, angles, classification of quadratic surfaces. Four problems 20 minutes.

Quiz #3: Thursday, October 1: Curves (tangent lines, length, curvature) 1 problem Limits and continuity (1 problem) Partial derivatives including implicit differentiation (2 problems)
Topics not covered on the quiz: partial differential equations, tangent planes, chain rule.

Quiz #4: Thursday, October 8: Tangent planes to graphs and to implicitly defined surfaces, chain rule, partial differential equations, gradient and the directional derivative. 4 problems 20 min.

Quiz #5: Thursday, October 22: Double integrals on rectangles and on domains of type I and type II. 4 problems 20 min.

Quiz #6: Thursday, October 29: Integration in polar coordinates. 4 problems 25 min.

Quiz #7: Thursday, November 5: Integration in spherical and cylindrical coordinates. 4 problems 25 min.

Quiz #8: Thursday, November 12: Line integrals 4 problems 30 minutes. Solutions
